Christmas!!!
I love Christmas. I've always been asked what's my favorite time of year and I never know the answer. I didn't want to be like everyone else. I wanted a holiday that no one else said...because that's just me. I'll follow the crowd to a certain extent, and then there comes a point where I make my own decision. And whether it's with or against everyone else is different every time. N-E-Way...wow, that was a rabbit trail. I think I've decided that Christmas is my favorite time of year.
First of all, it's the time we celebrate the birth of Jesus. You know, the only One who loves us no matter what we do...the One who died so we can spend all of eternity with Him in Heaven. Yeah, Him. :)
Second, I get 8 "business days" off from work...translated....2 weeks off!!!! The 21st was our last day (Wednesday last week), and I don't go back until the 3rd (Tuesday of next week)!!!!!!! And, four of those days are paid, the other four we can use our vacation time to fill. And since my vacation rolls over in April, I definitely will be using that time. ;)
Family/friends come in 3rd. I mean, I've got two weeks off...it's a great time to spend more time with family and friends. Which I've done already. And plan to do more of this week too.
Presents. Need I say more!?!?! I think everyone loves to get stuff. I do. But I also love to give and see the looks on peoples faces when the open up their gifts. It's so much fun!!!! So, here's the list of loot I racked up on this weekend:
* 2-layer jacket from LLBean (it's got a water proof outer layer and a fleece lining that can be removed. kind of a 3-in-one deal)
* silver heart necklace with emeralds (my birthstone)
* two pairs of beaded earrings, one black the other purple (from Jenn)
* an orange spice candle (from a co-worker)
* a turtle squishy pillow (from Els)
* black earrings (from Els)
* silver bracelet (from Els)
* pajamas
* 2 DVDs - Sense and Sensibility, and Everafter
* Michael Buble' CD (I have to return this, I already have it)
* Fuzzy slippers
* silver and black flower ring
* make up - powder and mascara
* face cloths (make up remover stuff)
* a huge box of Hershey's Pot of Gold Chocolate
* a journal (from my secret pal at work)
* a coffee mug and small cookie tray (from my secret pal at work)
* a honeysuckle candle (from a co-worker)...this was regifted to mom b/c I don't care for the scent
* a raspberry jam candle (from the Burdens)
* $100 from my grandparents in town
* a throw blanket (from my super)
* a luminary candle (from my super's super)
* an ornament and scented soap (from Brooke)
* a gift cert to salon machade (from Adrienne)
Ok...I think that's all. Anything that doesn't have who it was from in parenthesis is from mom and dad. I must say that I really didn't rack up like I thought I would. See, last year I got a $200 camera and that was pretty much it. So, I figured I'd get more this year since I didn't ask for any one thing over $80 (the jacket). But, I still didn't get a whole lot. I'm not disappointed tho. I had fun with mom and dad. And they got more than they have before, so that was nice. Dad got a nice pink shirt and tie on his b'day (the 23rd) to go with his navy sports coat, so mom got him a red shirt for Christmas and I found a tie to go with it and another tie to go with his pink shirt for his black sports coat. I also got him some cologne from Macy's while I was in Lakeland....and mom some perfume too. And some DVDs...some of which have not come in yet. It was fun times!!!
Sunday night, Beck and I went to get Dor at the airport. Did you know that there is a surface lot B? I did not...and I've lived here all my life. It's basically out in the boondocks. Thankfully the airport shuttle picked us up and we didn't have to walk the whole way. I didn't even know we had a shuttle!!! It was so crazy...there were a ton of cars!!! But it's so good to have Dor back!! It's just not the same when he's gone. And now Els and Eric are gone....our group just isn't the same right now. *sniff, sniff*
Yesterday, Dor and I went to see TLWW...my second time to see it!! I really like that movie. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. Then we went to the mall so he could get Beck's Christmas present...a gift card to NY& Co. After that, I went to Hobby Lobby and got a couple really cute Christmas decorations marked to 1/2 off!!! (Just another reason I like Christmas....reduced price decorations starting the day before in some stores). I'm probably going to go back on the 1st to see if anythings reduces more and see if I can get some more cute stuff for our door prizes at next year's Christmas party...good thing about that is I'll get re-imbursed for my purchases. :)
Well, the rest of the week, there are no plans. I may go bowling with Brooke and a few other tonight. Not sure yet. Acutally, I'll probably go, but I don't think I'm bowling. I hurt my had the other night at Becks, and it's still a little tender and sore. Today, I'm lounging at home...doing laundry. I need to go see if my DVDs came in and deliver the rest of mom and dad's Christmas to them if they did. :)
