WTCP...or not
ok, so the WTCP wasn't all that bad. the decorations turned out pretty nice...except for the hay bales and the stupid "santa stops here" signs stuck in two of them. the food was ok...i'm not a bbq kind of person, but at least they prepared it without the sauce on it, so you could add as desired. the games went pretty good. there were a few lulls where i was bored, but that's only becuase i had nothing to do and no one to talk to. i didn't take a date and the people i usually would have talked to were at a different tent. yup, tent. we had two out back and because not everyone would fit under one, the decided that the committee (and their dates/husbands) would sit under a separate tent. and to top it all off, the appreciation present for the committee......da, daaaa...two poinsettas. i did get a door prize...three cute ornaments (yup, i remembered what bag i wrapped them in so i could get them).
ok, back to the poinsettas. thursday b/4 the party we had a committee meeting. we sent THIRTY minutes discussing door prizes. THIRTY!!!! somehow the numbers got mixed up and we ended up with 108 gifts, 30 of which were poinsettas. the thought was brought up that if the number of a committee member was drawn they would take a poinsetta. hello...26 y/o who rents a house with two other girls and three dogs. i don't want a poinsetta. besides that, i don't care for the ugly things. give me something else. i let them know that. we still went around and around. heaven forbid 108 of the 115 attendees get a gift, leaving 7 that didn't. finally, we scrapped the poinsettas as door prizes and the....get this....clear bowls with candy wrapped in celphane (yeah, i'm still laughing about that one). that leaves 68...three of which were for those that won games. still....THIRTY MINUTES!!!!!!!! oh, i was so frustrated.
and then to have it all topped up with getting TWO poisettas as thank you for being on the committee. HAHA...yeah, that was dripping with sarcasm for those that didn't get it. i told one of the ladies on the committee she could have my poinsettas. grrr......
anyway. i wanted to give all an update, since so many were looking forward to find out how the evening went. i definitely wanted to be with my friends....i would have even gone to the formal without a date just to get out doing that again. i'm just glad it's over.
