I got it! I GOT IT!
Yaih! I made it work! I've got no clue how I did it or what the hell happened (because if I knew I could sell the concept and become really, really rich) but my fic has started sounding like it's supposed to! In English!! I've found my voice! :))
Seriously, something just clicked. I've been enlightened! Heh. I recognize my writing now. It's hard to explain. I didn't really feel like I was hitting the tone of voice I would usually use. But now I've got it. And I barely need a dictionary anymore, too! I relied on using one a lot, formerly, for nuances at least. The last word I had to look up was "ornamental shrub." ;) (which is my new favorite word of the week, too. It was meant to refer to Gaeta's hair.) It feels kind of... liberating, knowing I'm going to feel more confident about my writing in the future. I know I'm nowhere near perfect, no matter which language, but it's nice to have back one of the things I know I'm good at doing.
In other news, I got my bsg_remix assignment today. After the initial reaction of "But! That writer's out of my league! No fair!" I got over myself, and I'm looking forward to writing the remix a lot. But I suppose it's best to just contemplate it a bit before writing anything.
