The drama of Jewell St continues: Relationships ending, new ones beginning. Roomates leaving, old friends arriving. Light fixtures falling. Wall sockets sparking. Bathroom walls GROWING. Furnace fans malfunctioning. Cat's noses darkening. School projects killing. The clothes never clean. The stove never warming. Allergies insisting. Coldness creeping. Darkness settling. My heart goes out to all involved.
Amazing things are happening musically. Everyone i know is taking an interest in my new music project. Saul is playing
Bass, Shaul is playing
Baritone and
Melodica, Candi (if i wasn't dreaming) is playing
Flute. It's amazing. When i first had the idea, i figured it would be a bunch of strangers i'd meet through flyers and such. I had no idea my close friends would be the ones. It is all falling into place, i'm amazed i haven't thought of this before, so many of my friends play crazy instruments. We still need
Percussionists,
Keys and
Strings, so if you or anyone you know in the Detroit area might be interested, let me know. We're going to be
called.....
I was sitting in my design class on Thursday and the professor who was one of the judges of the design competition walked over to my desk and interrupted the class. He said he thought my project was really good and that it warrented some kind of prize, so he gave me two tickets to the
Cranbrook Art Museum. It was sorta embarrasing (the class on the other side of the room was witness to it as well), but it was also very cool of him and i was very appreciative. There's nothing like being rewarded for a job well done. So i'm excited about going.
So i downloaded all these live tracks of Neutral Milk Hotel off of the
Elephant 6 website and they're fucking unbelievable. Download these tracks from their live San Francisco show on 4/12/98 and be blown out of your socks: Sailing Through (holy shit this song is great), Beautiful Baby (the entire song is basically one guitar chord over and over and yet it is still incredible), Ferris Wheel On Fire (simply scrumtrulescent), I Will Bury You In Time (which he explains is about being in a hole by the ocean with a rock star, fucking brilliant melodies as usual), and even though you've probably heard them before, the live versions are just as stunning, so download Two-Headed Boy Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 while you're at it. There is just something about hearing these things live, it gives me the chills. So GO DOWNLOAD! Trust me, you will be glad you did.
