I enjoyed another amazing couple days in mythical Pincado last weekend. Saturday was spent with my niece Taylor scouring the backyard kingdom with magnifying glasses in hand, overturning rocks and moss to investigate the goings on of the worms and bugs. We turned over this big rock and this worm underneath was so startled that he started shitting. Taylor thought that was just the funniest thing she'd ever seen. Then i played the most intense game of kickball in my life with my nephews Cameron and Nathan. They chased me down and made me laugh. There are no words in the english language to describe how glorious the day was. It was sunny. Leaves were raked and torched. Fall meals were eaten. New goodwill sweaters were cleaned and worn. The new Pinback album "Summer In Abbadon" was finally purchased and greatly enjoyed. I also picked up Tom Wait's "The Heart of Saturday Night", one of the few remaining Waits records i don't own. So good. While i was picking up the music at MediaPlay in Saginaw, i ran into someone i worked with at Meijer about eight years ago in Bay City. It was insane. The last time i saw him was when Deathkit won a $500 shopping spree at another record store where he was working. Wild.
I drink too much. More interestingly though, tonight i was filing slides at school and was putting back some of Italy. There were all these slides of Pisa and the cathedral and leaning tower, overhead shots, interior shots. More slides of Florence. It was crazy to be holding these things, looking at them, knowing i was standing right in that doorway less than two years ago. It seems like it never happened, that trip. Or like it was only a fever dream. I can vividly remember walking the grounds of the cathedral in Pisa though and walking past that ancient cemetary that no one was aloud into. I could feel the icy cold hands of History pushing me on.
Another strange and brutal night at the Buddha Lounge on Sunday. Deathkit sang Master of Puppets and almost started a riot. Drunk girl was involved, of course. Before that we were almost witness to a mass satanic orgy during a terrible rendition of NIN's song about doing things to people like animals do it. My friend Joe Scott pointed out to me how great the irony was that such things could take place at a bar called "Buddha Lounge". Bless the place.
Can anyone lend me $1,500 so i can pay off this semester's tuition? Thanks.
