Quite a Lunch

May 28, 2010 14:41

One of my coworkers and I went to lunch today. It was just a good day to get out and go to Deep Ellum, so we did. Monica's Aca Y Aya, one of my perennial favorites, but one that I haven't been to in a very long time. Now Monica's is always good, but today was doubly good. For some reason they have changed the recipe for their Mexican Lasagna, using their tomatillo sauce instead of the old cheese and sour cream topping, and it's even better than it was.

Now that's nice but the way back was even more memorable. We were sitting on the train when some guy gets on with what looks like a slightly dirty shirt and he says "Man, I need to get to a bus stop. I was just in a fight and I need a drink. I'm not normally on the train though."

He then tells us that he was a professional fighter in Mexico but now is a tattoo artist, and he got in a fight with a friend of his. The dirt on his shirt is actually his friend's blood, and he was rattled, so he needed to take the 52 line bus to get to the bar he likes to hang out at."

For some reason he's talking directly to me, so I tell him to get off at West End Station and walk to the bus stop from there. That's the main bus stop, so it'll get him where he needs to go. Then I hopped off a stop earlier than that, just in case.

Fun times on public transit. He seemed nice enough, but man, you just never know.
