The Best Way to Watch Los Mavs

Sometimes I really do realize how lucky I am. Last night was one of those nights.

After a day at work where I felt pretty productive I joined up with travellady and went to the press opening for the El Jimador Lounge at the AAC. On the way up I met two lovely young representatives from Texas Monthly who learned about tequila with me as we talked to the representatives.

OK, I'm not traditionally a tequila connessieur, but I've been learning. And this stuff is really, really good. They had Herradura, which was ok, and el Jimador, which was just as smooth and flavorful as any tequila I've ever had. I think I now have a new favorite.

So for my evening I got served shrimp and black bean tostadas, was served all of the free el Jimador Paloma cocktails I wanted, got invited to an event by Tuaca, and spent the evening in conversation with two really interesting (and attractive) women. We basically ignored the basketball for 3 quarters, and then turned our attention to the game when we realized it was close and coming to a close.

And to top it all off the Mavs won! Against San Antonio in a close game! I had a blast. I can't find anything at all to complain about. It was a nearly perfect evening.

Now I've got a request for information out to the guy I talked with last night to get a little of their marketing stuff about how they make the el Jimador and so he can tell me which varieties I tried so I can write up the article and the whole thing will be done. Good times.

For anyone that wants to have the drink that I was most impressed by, it's called an El Jimador Paloma Auténtico (an El Jimador Authentic Paloma).
1.5-2 oz el Jimador
5-6 oz Fresca (or Squirt) (apparently grapefruit juice, sugar, and soda water would be the upscale version)
1/2 lime, squeezed into drink
rim with salt (optional)
serve on ice

stuff, drinks
