How to feed your Facebook status to Twitter

For the next time I need to know this...

I use Facebook to update twitter. I also update twitter from LJ. I may add other feeds later. But regardless, I've been asked a few times how I got my facebook status to go to twitter, since the twitter app on Facebook goes the other direction.

Here's what you do.

1) Make sure you have a twitter account. (www.twitter.com)
2) Create a twitterfeed account. You'll need an openID of some sort, but a yahoo id or a LJ account is fine. www.twitterfeed.com
3) Log into twitterfeed and into facebook
4) In your facebook window go to http://www.new.facebook.com/minifeed.php?filter=11 or else you'll waste forever trying to find your rss feed... facebook made this a real pain to find.
5) Look on the right column at the bottom under the heading "Subscribe to these Stories:" and find "My Status". Then click on it.
6) That will take you to a page with all of your status updates in rss 2.0 format. If it doesn't, it might be because you blocked popups and it's trying to pop up a new window. If that's the case, let facebook open that window. You need the URL.
7) Go to twitterfeed and create a new feed subscription by clicking the "Create new twitter feed"
8) Copy and paste that URL for the facebook RSS feed into the field labeled "RSS Feed URL", then hit the save button at the bottom of the page.

It should then tell you that it passed the parse test, and will set a timer up to update your twitter status every 30 minutes if your facebook status changes.

twitter, facebook
