Political Parties
I found an article on liquorsnob with cocktails for political parties. Like a party where you watch the politics happen. I think I may throw a political party in November. It's right around my birthday and I like to have the birthmonth thing happen anyway. I also was thinking that I would write my own article with the idea of the theme. So I decided to put the recipes here.
The first 2 are from http://www.liquorsnob.com/archives/2008/08/patriotic_cocktails_let_you_show_spirit.php and the others I added myself. But I didn't want the libertarians or greens to feel left out, and I wasn't content to just have a vodka tonic for the Independent.
The Red Elephant
1 part UV Cherry vodka
2 parts lemon-lime soda
*Serve over ice in a highball glass.
The Blue Donkey
1 part UV Blue raspberry flavored vodka
2 parts lemonade
*Serve over ice in a lowball glass.
The Independent
2 parts vodka
1 part Fresca (flavor of your choice)
1 part lemonade
1 part orange juice
*Combine all ingredients except Fresca in a shaker. Pour into tall glass. Top with fresca and add ice. Garnish with lemon or lime slice.
The Eco-Friendly Green Martini
2 ounces Purus or Reyka "green" vodka
2 ounces of green tea mix (green tea, honey, and water) or ZEN Green Tea Liqueur
*Shake and serve in a martini glass. Garnish with mint leaf sprig or kiwi slice
The Libertarian
2 parts vodka
1 part triple-sec
2 parts lemonade
2 parts lemon-lime soda
*Combine all ingredients except lemon-lime soda in a shaker filled with ice. Pour into a hurricane glass. Top with lemon-lime soda. Garnish with lemon slice.
Liberty Cocktail
2 parts apple brandy
1 part white rum
1 tsp bar sugar
*Add ingredients to highball glass and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add ice cubes and stir again
