Saving

Aug 12, 2010 02:06

Yeah, some hefty amount of that going on at the moment. September is going to be super busy and pricey.

The pathetic thing is that I don't really have anything worthwhile or productive to save towards at the moment. There isn't anyone to go visit, or hope to see, anything like that. It was kind of nice having high ideals like that, but apparently I just kind of happened to run out of them once I actually had any kind of money source. C'est La Vie I suppose.

So instead, what isn't going to pay off some depts to my parents as well as general living expenses is going towards things to just keep me going, keep the mind somewhat active and distract me. Moping is to be avoided.
Mostly, I'm afraid that means video games.
I feel kind of ashamed of that really.

So yeah, as is the way of things, all the big games come out at once in the leadup to Christmas.
This yeah, it seems September is the year of utter spending hell. I've gone a bit overboard on the pre-orders.

Sept 4th, Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 hits... now, while I don't think the first game was especially brilliant, there isn't exactly a whole lot of choice when it comes to air combat titles. There hasn't been a new Ace Combat game on a home console since September 2007, and no new one has even been announced.
So HAWX 2 it is. Hopefully, like most games in the Tom Clancy brand, the sequel has improved significantly over the earlier game. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was certainly much better than the first game.

Sept 14th, well, need I say it, Halo Reach. I'm not actually especially hyped over it, even with the reveal of some space combat, which I imagine some people would think I was fangasming about.
Its a new Halo game, the beta was fun enough. I think it'll be a good game and better than ODST. I haven't bought a new FPS since.. well, technically Left 4 Dead 2 I suppose, but I don't really count that. L4D2 was an attempt to counter some really heavy depression by joining in with 2 friends who were playing a lot of co-op at the time. Thought it better to join in than continue moping, y'know.
Anyway, because I'm an idiot and really whore collectables, I ordered the Legendary edition and, even more crazily, decided to order the Reach Xbox 360 Slim... Really shouldn't have, I just got a black 250gb slim a month ago when they were released here... Bastards didn't say they were doing a Reach one.
Its not that its Halo themed or anything... its that its silver. With silver controllers... I love silver when it comes to those things. Maybe I'm a little OCD about it... Bleh...

Then its quiet for a couple of weeks... then Sept 24th...
Bloody hell...
F1 2010, Test Drive Unlimited 2 and also apparently Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Only F1 2010 is actually pre-ordered. The other two might have to wait, we'll just see how things seem a little closer the time.

And the first week of October, its WRC 2010.

November also brings Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

Between all that, there is of course DLC releases like new Mass Effect 2 content, so that'll need MS points.

Oh well, that's my nonsense said. As much to help me keep track of all this as it is to bore the life out of anyone who reads.

Edit: As of Thursday morning, Test Drive Unlimited 2 has been pushed back to early 2011. They say to enhance the game, I say not wanting to get lost among the competition.
Bit of a shame since I was actually looking forward to racing (virtually) around the entirety of Ibiza but there are plenty of other driving games in the mean time.

idiot, gaming, money, life
