I think you've drank the Thompson koolaid. We may have to sever fellowship over this state of affairs :-) j/k
Favre had a great year, he was solid except for three games last year (all losses) in the regular season. The NFC championship was a close game, but wouldn't have gone to overtime had the Packers been able to have some kind of running game. Still, that's over and done.
The Packers are a young enough team to let Favre write his own ticket for the next two years, even if Rodgers is who they're building around (as they'd already been doing since drafting him). If conditioning is an issue, fine, and if performance is an issue, fine, but I doubt either would have been the case.
13-3 on a team already building for the future is pretty good, and I doubt they'll do better with Rodgers this year than they would have done with Favre. I still love the Pack, but I think this trade is a loser for the Pack and a total winner for the Jets. A conditional 4th rounder, up to a possible 1st rounder, for Brett Favre. Can you imagine the people of Green Bay *not* lynching Ted Thompson if NY wins the AFC with Brett the Jet at their helm and the Pack having only a late first round pick to show for it? I doubt that happens, the Jets are rough in many ways, but I don't see how the Packers gave themselves a better chance this year (and next) by making this deal.
Oh well...either way we probably disagree on this one, as is our right. Go Packers!
