I started today in a funk and feeling a bit low on the emotional energy scale. Since I tend to be something of an introvert -- yes, you may stop laughing now -- it actually takes me being in a good energy state to feel ready to take on group social situations... and also why I tend toward smaller groupings of people to interact with at any given time. I was actually thinking that I wouldn't be going to this evening's munch at all. But H and I struck up a conversation in IM and I offered that if she and B were to go, I would enjoy hanging out with them there. And so it was that I renewed my plans to go to the munch.
Not long after arriving, I guess we reached critical mass of the folks who had gone in to get C a gift for her recent birthday. It's a pink (surprise!) iPod mini (latest gen, 16 squee bytes). Naturally, she wanted to run home and start putting music on it to listen to during her train ride and walk.
Her iPod is also personalized. Though fuzzy in the picture, it says "Miss Courtney / Disney Domme". Squee! Happy Birthday, Courtney!
By now H and B had also arrived, and I took a seat with them at a booth next to the Kids' Table. After waiting for an unexpected guest to vacate, S also joined us. We had enjoyable time conversing while munching, after a not so brief delay in me getting my meal. Maybe A really does want me to blow him after all! Hmm...
There was a slight departure from my usual rule of not interrupting face-to-face conversation with electronic toys. I received J's cell phone from from the KT to see a Twitter reply to an earlier tweet I'd sent. I made another quick reply to T and put my phone away.
I have also had a few responses from folks who've friended me in LJ that the LoudTwitter automatic postings have been distracting. One went so far as to say that they weren't up to the standard of my usual postings -- which I took as an unexpected compliment. I have therefore decided to cease LoudTwitter use and have removed those postings from my blog.
We also had some interesting inter-table chat over the plans for an Edges portable gloryhole. I rather like the ideas that were floating around, but I also hope that we don't start over-thinking it. I guess we'll have to see how it proceeds. I promised D some pics of actual gloryholes in the area to provide a sanity check.
As the evening approached the witching hour, S disappeared to hang with G, and J and M came over to join us. We had a marvelous conversation. It was almost like a mini discussion group! I really enjoyed this. Sometimes I get the feeling that we have a lot of fun and miss out on opportunities to really share and connect with each other. We actually wound up not leaving until almost 2am!
Oh, and just for the record, I have promised that I will spend next Wednesday at the Grown Ups' Table. It's a challenge with a fragmented room, but I do actually enjoy hanging out with a variety of folks! ;-)
I really want to give a big gay bear HUG to H for convincing me to come tonight. Despite my introverted inclinations today, I really had a lovely time tonight and would have really missed out had I not come.
