Feeling Older
Yeah, it's that day again. I've already received all the automated "older again, huh?" emails from all the Internet forums. More enjoyable were the wishes from S and S, who I was up late chatting with (and arm wrestling with the computer). But then I got home for the last time and found something fun in my mail slot -- wow, that's a real opening for euphemisms but my mind is still spinning up so I'll try to finish this quickly.
Oh the phone with mom last night, we got to talking about how it is you start to look back and ask "those questions"... you know, the ones like "where did all that time go?" She laughed, of course, because she's got a 19 year head start, and remarked that we keep asking ourselves that question at various milestones. I did feel a little better when she told me that my turning 20 was much more traumatic than my approaching 40. Or should I have felt better? heh Not sure. But we're not /quite/ there yet, so I'll reserve judgment for a few more years.
Having dinner with a small group of folks later tonight. Having dinner with family is harder since most of them have moved out of the area over the years. I'm looking forward to it though, just because it means catching up and spending some quality time with them. OK, put your freakin' tissue away now. :) It's MY party. MY PARTY, do you hear?! :D hehe Well, anyway... Happy Birthday to me. W00t!
