The house was eerily quiet as Ryan left the kitchen with a turkey sandwich in hand. It seemed that once more he and Bam were left alone to their own devices. He was almost starting to wonder if April’s protest were merely tokens; something she thought she should do. In her spot, Dunn doubted he’d be very accepting either. Then again, Bam was definitely a different sort. Ultimately, his mother’s opinion or word on anything would not change his mind once he’d decided to act upon his own accord.

Ryan didn’t hear the telltale sounds of skateboard wheels until it was too late. Flesh and bone struck with momentous force. Grunting as he fell to the floor, Dunn wrapped his arms around Bam. His sandwich fell to the floor in ruins as the boy’s skateboard skidded to a stop against the wall. Both of them gasped as they tried to regain their breath. Bam was giggling as Ryan let his head bang against the floor with a loud thud.

“My ass…” Dunn whined “I swear you have this thing about abusing me…”

“You know you love it…”

His voice briefly caught in his throat, Ryan replied. “I thought we weren’t doing this here…?” The question was disregarded with a mere blink. “Bam… they could be home any second…” Attempting to push himself onto his elbow and shove Bam off of him, Dunn started to sit up. Only Bam exerted pressure against his shoulders, pressing him roughly back onto the floor. Before he could even think it away, Ryan’s cock swelled in his jeans.

The smile spreading across Bam’s face clearly stated that the trucker’s reaction did not go unnoticed. Thrusting against him experimentally, the sound Bam’s motions elicits from Ryan sent his hand flying to cover his mouth. Because, after all, Dunn was right… his family could be home at any moment. When a shallow breath ghosted across his palm, Bam’s eyes were drawn to Ryan’s face. Dusty blue eyes glazed over as the boy dared to thrust once more. Even through his hand, Dunn’s moan echoed through out the dining room.

Wide-eyed, Bam backed away. He was breathing heavily as he collapsed to the floor. “S-sorry…”

Ryan stood and offered his hand. When he pulled Bam up, he purposely tugged extra hard so they boy crashed into his chest. “Don’t be…” He leaned forward and whispered in his ear. “I bottom too…” Sandwich pieces stills scattered across the floor, he walked away. As soon as April and Phil got home, he had to head to Youngstown. At least now, Bam would have something to be distracted by… he hoped.

“Hey, babe…”

“Babe?” Bam giggled at the pet name before replying. “Where you at?”

“Just stopped in at the terminal. They spent the last half hour trying to talk me out of quitting…”

Choking on his breath, Bam whispered. “Oh?” The pause on the other end of the line made his heart race.

“I might take a leave of absence... It’d be easier than a rehire… if we can’t change April’s mind… I’ll terminate for good then…”

“Uh… I got about half of that…”

The sound of a group of voices rose on the line then dissipated before Dunn continued. “… I miss having you with me…”

“I miss being with you…” Bam sighed and bit his lip to distract himself from the wetness brimming in his eyes.

“ I was too late for the afternoon bus… and now there’s a three hour wait for Greyhound…. Do you think that someone could pick me up tomorrow morning at the station?”

“Don’t see why not… I’ll ask…”

“Hey… I have to get off the phone… it’s the office one… you still have that paper with my cell on it?”

“Yeah…” He couldn’t help it… Bam sniffled.

“Hey, Bam? … try to get some sleep tonight.”

“You too…”

The Margera phone rang about half past 1am. Patting Phil on his bare shoulder, April stumbled to answer it. “Hello…?” She spoke with a sense of worry infecting her voice.

“April?”

“Ryan?!” She asked in shock and immediately clutched the phone with both hands. “Do you know what time it is?!”

He paused before stating, “We need to talk.”

“Come back home and we’ll talk later, it’s 1am…”

“That’s what we need to talk about.”

“What are you saying?” The worry returned to her voice.

“I can’t do it.”

“Can’t do what?”

“Turn in my truck…”

She didn’t know what to say. “Ryan…”

“Please, April just listen to me… have I done anything in these past week that hasn’t been in Bam’s interest?”

“Well, no… not that I know of…”

“Isn’t he a better person now that before?”

“Well, yes… where is this going?”

“Please reconsider letting him come out on the truck with me.”

“Ryan…”

“Please, April… I know you still are having a hard time accepting me and Bam… I don’t know how else to say this… if I could I would marry him if it’d make you any happier…”

April was speechless. Of all the arguments she’d expected from the trucker… that was not one of them. “Ryan, I…” Finding herself a place to sit, she continued. “How can you know that you feel that strongly if you two… haven’t even… made love?” Dunn’s rambling and begging came to an abrupt end. “Oh my god.” Her chest suddenly felt tight and her breathing difficult.

“Please don’t freak out…” Ryan whispered.

Voice shaking, April finally spoke. “Thank you.”

“T-thank you?”

“…for being honest with me… and Ryan? Come home.”

Bam woke to his mom sitting on the edge of his bed. He sat up quickly. “What’s wrong?! Is Ryan okay?!”

“He’s fine… Bam, he’s on his way back with the truck right now…”

Anxiety spun and coiled in his gut. “M-mom?”

“If things ever get out of sorts… I want you to know you can call me… I won’t ever turn you away again…” Blinking at her in confusion, Bam sat up straighter. “Ryan will be here in a few hours with the truck… I’ve decided to let you go back out with him…”

“What?! Really?! Why?!”

She ignored his questions. “But don’t you ever lie to me again…”
