I thought it was a charming little example of the inherent irrationality of ostensibly rational creatures who, when confronted with what is oftentimes an enormous and cold universe, will then proceed to try to enforce their will upon it and create certain rituals through which this will is intended to flow as though thought alone were compelling enough to modify the course of events--events which are, when one better understands concepts like the branching of spacetime and theories of parallel dimensions, not in the least assured or set in stone or fated, but infinitely possible. Quite frankly, the universe does not give two shits, silk panties or not. But, the habit of pattern-recognition being so strong as it is among most higher-level sentient creatures (admittedly, it is a useful survival tool), the "hits" count and the "misses" are forgotten. (( ooc: unfortunately, I didn't have anything in particular. really, he only wants the eyesight back, not the Vision Twofold - and the teeth automatically regrow anyway. the thing is, suffering physically isn't going to bother him - kid got stabbed numerous times. what he cares about IS his blood color. psychological damage is harder on a troll than physical. what I think would kill him on the inside the most is, well, being forced to type in his blood color ( pfft take his voice away while at it ). having to wear it on his sleeve like every troll does, but he never has out of sheer paranoia. it doesn't matter if people don't realize the meaning of it - he does. but that's just an idea! I am really chill about giving up stuff for a period of time, but just saying that to Karkat it isn't really a big deal. ))
