(A/N: Just to avoid confusion, this drabble is based on an idea I had for a drag queen fic, since I’ve been really interested in drag culture lately. It is an au in which there is a host club that caters to gay men and, *surprise surprise*, drag queens perform there. The drag queens in this host club, though, live there and have a “Madam” presiding over them who is in charge of them. Please note that drag queens, when dressed in drag, refer to themselves and each other as “girls” or “women”, so don’t be confused with what you’re about to read. I really really like this au and I want to develop it into a full-length fanfic sometime in the near future. At any rate, I hope you find this short teaser interesting and sorry for the really long author’s note).
“Hey Mao, do you see that man over there?” Koni asked with a smirk, pulling his friend over to peer behind the curtain from backstage.
Mao looked to where his best friend was pointing and noticed a very handsome man sitting alone at a table with a tall glass of red wine in his hand. He looked like he came from a well-to-do family, nothing like the men that usually frequented the The Pearl.
“Yeah, what about him?”
“I’ve been seeing a lot of him lately. Especially since you started working here…” Koni replied with a suggestive lilt in his tone, pink-painted lips curling up with satisfaction when he managed to get his friend all flustered.
Mao’s eyes widened and he began fiddling nervously with the blonde hair of his wig, a nervous habit of his. “I d-don’t think so, I’ve never even noticed him before. Besides, I’m not even as pretty as the other girls here…I-I’m sure you’re mistaken.”
Koni just laughed. “Oh trust me, honey. He’s definitely here for you.”
