The Audacious Rip-Off

Earlier tonight my mother and I went to Delifrance for dinner... it was our first time there since they've converted themselves into a bistro of sorts (of course I use the term bistro in the loosest sense of the word). Table service, ostentatious french names, free water... be still my beating heart! What more could a girl ask for?

Well... we could start of with the very simple "food that tastes (and looks!) better than that served to the soldiers during World War II"! Mother had the beautifully described roasted chicken with fettuccine that was a chef recommendation and I had the honey mustard chicken. They certainly looked good on the menu, LOOK being the operative word here. What was presented to us was far cry from the glossy pictures.

The roasted chicken looked dry and the accompanying fettuccine looked and tasted like it was simply boiled and served with no sauce whatsoever. The honey mustard and chicken which description led readers to envision succulent chicken topped with fluffy honey mustard sauce was sadly just 3 fatty pieces of chicken that tasted like it was boiled in water flavoured with ginger and oil served with honey mustard seeds.

To top it all off... these 2 dishes rang up a bill of 32 dollars!! Daylight robbery I say! Well... at least we've learnt first hand the quality of the food served and now know never to make the mistake of patronising them again. (At least not for dine-ins cos their pastries are a whole different matter altogether!) Strangely enough though... there wasn't a single time I've received good service from Delifrance. Another point chalked up under the Why Delifrance Sucks category.

The worst thing about unsatisfying meals is that they cause me to feel hungry really fast and I'd have to find something else to satisfy my disappointment thus causing me to eat more. *shakesfist* Curse you Delifrance!!!
