man, my cd's came in this thursday, and i have to say...i am very pleased!!! meddle is a great album. at the moment it is my favorite pink floyd album i own (but over time i usually change my mind)...but for now, meddle is my favorite! echoes is amazing. i love the atmosphere they create with the sounds they use on that one. i wonder if the part near the end where it's...well..."birdlike", is that guitar?! (the louder one). it sounds like its a sound effect, but knowing them, theyre probly actaully playing it on either guitar or the keyboard. i wonder if anything in that part were sound effects, or all played somehow. im too lazy right now to look up the exact time of where it is i'm talking about, so if u dont get what i mean, i'll talk to you later about it. but anyways, all the other songs are sweet too. san tropez and seamus are great. i didnt expect it at all, and though it isnt what i expected from them, it was of great quality and its very fun to listen to and just relax to.
it's funny how powerful and influential music can be sometimes. i talked to my brother last night, the first time in oh, months maybe. and the last time we did talk, it was very brief. he didnt seem to want to talk. but this time, he called and the convorsation went off as normal and i thought it would be another typical convorsation of ours, leaving me feeling akward and not comfortable being open and being myself, but then i mentioned to him that i got a new pink floyd cd. he is a huge pink floyd fan. so we actaully started talking for about 25 minutes about music. different bands, and the possibilities of me doin some gigs this summer. and after we were done, i felt like i had a good convorsation for a change. and that i was open, and we were open with eachother and understood eachother.
this probably isnt the best example of how powerful music can be, but i thought it was neat that the topic of music got us talking more. i could think of hundreds of other ways, and i'm sure you guys can too. i dont know where i'd be without it. life would be pretty dull dont you say?
in keyboard world, i'm working on a bunch of sections in BTL(beyond this life)...(not BLT...=bacon lettuce tomato sandwich). that song isnt as hard as i thought it would be when i looked at it a few months ago and cried :P. it's taking time, but its coming along nicely, and so many cool sections in there too. and while i'm figuring out parts, i'm also coming close on the right sounds for those parts. ive found some awesome organ programs that sound very nice in a mix of a full band.
signed up onto the OC today (thats the online conservatory, not that terrible cheesy tv show). theres so much stuff on there and it looks like it's gonna be a good resource for me. hooray.
