i know you guys both are star wars fans like myself. i was thinking today of some random parts in the origional trilogy and wanted to know what you guys thought about it. there are a few quotes that i remember that seem like they could have double meanings to them. and i wonder if lucas intended these meanings or they are just coincidence. but i dont really like to just accept things as mere coincidences so here goes.
i have two right now...
remember when in a new hope the millenium falcon lands and vader is like "i sense something...a presense i havent felt since...." and then he turns and walks out of the scene? well, i think it was implied that he was talking about obiwan, but could he also be talking about his son?! at this point in the trilogy, nobody (not even the cast) knew that vader was luke's father so i thought it was cool how he didnt really specify a presense "i havent felt since i last saw obiwan" or "a presense i havent felt since i left my son (or padme)".
another one, and not as neato as the other one comes from my master yoda :P
"size matters not" he said. this probably was meant to mean two things but i thought it was cool nonetheless. It was obvious that he was small, and his lesson could have been hey, just because i am small doesnt mean i cant do big things....or could have been referring to the large size of the xwing and therefore his point being that the size of an obstacle doesnt matter.
the second one seems like i'm stating the obvious, and i probably am, but i like this kind of speech. its fun to hear. makes you think, and teaches people more by saying less. (in the second one especially), but in vader's case, it seems like lucas kind of played with us (us being the ones who didnt know the father/son relation) and was sneaky by not really finishing what he was gonna say.
i dunno, maybe it's just me, but i like this sort of thing. anyone else know of any other examples???
