Goodbye London, Hello Singapore, YAY ASHES!

Sep 12, 2005 16:45

I had another farewell lunch with the Political Theorists today - this time pizza from M&S, red wine from Bergerac, and cricket on teevee. Aaron will be proud: I answered a lot of questions on cricket today, and about 5 previously non-cricket-watching friends stayed glued to the television with me. It's currently looking good - I think I can leave for the airport in 1.25 hours with the safe knowledge that England have finally regained the Ashes.

And in a way, I'm glad, very glad for the distraction of cricket. It makes leaving less of an Event. It's hard to believe I won't see Libby, Charles, Siri and Yoni for dinner this week. Or have lunch at Loon Tao with Aaron, Melvin, Joey, Zaz, Colin, Mark, Jon Tai and gang this Sunday. And that I'll be officially a Working Adult this Thursday.

Goodbye, London. Goodbye, Flat 10. I don't know when I'll be back, and it certainly will never be the same again. But I've always known this year was a gift to be treasured, and in many ways I have made much of it. Love, friendship, fellowship, challenges, worship, intellectual connections - all have graced my year here. It's been an awesome year.

(I'll miss you.)

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Blessed be Your name.

Hello Singapore. See you tomorrow.
