Five simple pleasures:
- Laughing with my best friend. It's always uplifting, and there doesn't have to be any particular reason for it. Not a reason that would make sense to anyone else, anyway. We have our own version of a own secret twin language, complete with hand signals.
- Cuddling with a cat. Cats lurve me. I lurve them. Cuddling is good. It's good for my mood. It's good for my soul. If I were Martha Stewart, I would tell you it's a Good Thing.
- The view of the sky from the windows in my office. Regardless of the weather, the sky always looks gorgeous from here. It soothes me and makes me happy.
- An email or post from my sister. After Cupcake, she is my oldest friend and I adore her. (Whoa, Pollyanna.) Again with the secret twin language. We can have entire conversations that consist of shrieks, sound effects, and made-up words and phrases, and those conversations make perfect sense to us. Our relationship is like one ongoing inside joke.
- Chocolate. Oh, god, chocolate. I don't have the words.
So. The simple pleasures thing. I've always loved things that fall into that category. Splashing in rain puddles, playing Stick with Walter, tossing coins into a fountain and making wishes. Little things that just bring me peace and joy. Tell me about yours? What are the things that bring a smile to your face, that satisfy you and lift your spirits? Not big extravagant things like Caribbean vacations or flights to Mars, but little things like blowing bubbles or baking the perfect cake or finishing that damned flowery blankie you've been working on for a decade. Okay, that last one is more than a simple pleasure. But you know what I mean. Tell me, my little FriendBots. What fills you with joy?
