Family drama, oh boy!!
My dad threw a fit bc going to Mass meant we might not have $$ to go to NY for thanksgiving& he wanted all his kids there. (Keep in mind we saw him in March, but I haven't seen Nana in about 6yrs)
Then I get a call. According to my mom, none of my relatives would be willing to pick us up at the airport bc "They use Nana, they don't do her favors", and she& my Aunt Luci won't allow Nana to pick us up, either, even though she's cleared to drive. (Not that Luci tries to stop her from driving around to do errands for her) Plus, apparently mom thinks we won't be allowed to stay at the house if we DO go.
Needless to say, I was less than thrilled, since earlier today my mother was offering to help us make sure we could afford 2 tickets, and saying how great it would be for us to go. I hung up...she calls Vernon, and he gets a lecture. (Oh, and my l'il sis is angry bc I blew up at mom. Apparently she's the only one that's allowed to)
Vern is less than happy about the situation, and told her so. He also explained (as I had earlier) that I'm not doing this because "mom encouraged me" but because it's important to me, and would mean a lot to Nana. She didn't seem to care, and was still trying to talk him out of it when they got off the phone.
Sooooo, we're going for Thanksgiving instead. This way we have time to save up& plan better. We will rent a car, and stay in a hotel, and nobody will be put out by us. I already called my bro in Ohio& explained the Nana situation (leaving out the drama it caused); he was understanding& said he might just drive up on his own. And my parents can just deal. If they think I'm a horrible daughter for wanting to see my grandmother, so be it. (Which my sister is now yelling at me for. Yep, so glad we're back from vacation)
