More Weekend/More Bellydancing

Finished my busy weekend with a family picnic in Dayton with my brother's and sister's families, my parents, and my cousin Molly.  The food - just picnic stuff - was awesome tasting and we celebrated my mother's, brother's and sister's birthdays which occur in June, July and August.  Spending time with my family is always a lot of fun, even if I end up getting the brunt of their sarcastic humor. For example, we were playing some game called corn hole and I am, admittedly, slow in the eye-hand coordination area.  So I don't play very well.  That seemed to be quite a source of humor for everyone.   I do seem to have gained some creditability over the last 5 years, however, which is gratifying.

Tonight I went to a bellydancing class in Muncie.  It's totally different than the one in Indy on Tuesdays, where you just get in line and start trying to do what the instructor is doing.  Today was the first of a 12 week course and there were only 3 of us - me and two young, beautiful Asian girls.  They felt awkward, too, though.  This class is set up more like a traditional dance class, where they show you how to do the moves.  Tonight we learned the basic stance as well as hip thrusts and chest lifts.  The hip thrusts can be speeded up into a shimmy, but I haven't quite "got" that yet.  I will, though.  I think  the combination of the two classes will be fun.  I found a really beautiful hip wrap at the studio's shop and bought it, so now I have two.  Guess I'll have to put them to good use.  Maybe this can be my retirement profession.  The instructor showed us a picture of a professional belly dancer who is now 96 and still dancing!

Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be spending most of the week going into school to work on the schedule.  I know it will pay off in my professional relationship with the principal, but it's very frustrating to give up my summer days without getting paid for it.  Hopefully, when I run the schedule Wednesday it will be at least 95% accurate, or I'll be storming IT for help.
