I ♥ my weekends!

What a great weekend! Why?

It started Friday night with dinner at Moonshine with friends that I've known since...well we go way back. They were part of my younger brother's crowd when we were growing up, but the age difference doesn't matter now as it did when they were in junior high and I was in high school. We're all grown and married now and the three couples had a really nice time together. I hope we can do it again soon.

Yesterday I went trail running with a small group of Trizoners in the Barton Creek greenbelt. We did about a 5 mile round trip and it was such a nice change from road running! All sorts of new hurts keep popping up though. I think I need to encase my entire lower body in neoprene supports and I'd be fine.

Last night we saw Matador at the Alamo Drafthouse with a Trizones friend and her husband. The new menu additions are great! I tried a Shroomwich! (a portobello mushroom sandwich). The movie was great too. Pierce Brosnan is good as a bad guy too.

Today J accompanied me to agility class at the Lee Mannix Center for Canine Behavior with the dogs! He's never gone before, so I usually do double duty working both dogs. I haven't taken them to class in a couple of months, and it showed. Casey wanted to search the mulch for loose kibble and it took Lexi half the class to get focused. We started simple, with sits/stays, and we failed miserably at that. I let J work with Casey, since J's never done it before and Casey already knows what to do. At least if I'd given Lexi to J, we could have blamed her failings on an inexperienced handler! After a while Lexi got her brain in gear and wasn't the weakest link in the relay races we had over the jumps. Little Casey jumped his heart out - jumping over a higher bar than he's used to jumping for the relay races. I gave him a Bufferin when we got home - hopefully he won't be too stiff. He's the oldest in the class - he'll be 12 in June. The teachers are great - they come up with some of the best advice. When Casey was more interested in sniffing mulch than following Jeff, teacher Shari's advice was "Be more interesting than the ground!" Sounds easy, but mulch is a pretty tough thing to compete with.

This early in the spring we can go to 9am agility class and then ride our bikes afterwards and it's not miserably hot. J & I had a nice easy neighborhood ride, except when we were fighting that wind! Oh well, it's good for us.

And finally, tonight we're going over to my parents' house for dinner. We don't see them nearly enough. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm worn out. Gotta go back to work for some quiet time.
