I NEEDED A LAUGH TODAY!

When I drove up in front of the house at lunch, the mail truck was at my box, so I got out of the car and walked up to the mailbox.  The usual mailman (a very nice older man ... probably nearing 60ish) was not in the driver's seat.  It was a fairly young girl, apparently someone filling in for him to have a day off.  She was still sorting through the bins to pick out the items for our house and I heard a sound like a little gasp (she hadn't actually seen me standing there yet).

She turned to put my stuff in the mailbox and saw me, so she handed me my items with a rather odd expression on her face ... sort of like someone looks at you when they think you've just told them a big fat lie.

I took the mail from her, thanked her and started walking toward the house.  I immediately recognized the return address on an oversized envelope as belonging to someone from a group of Dan-fans I belong to, but I didn't really look at it any more closely until I'd gotten the door unlocked and got inside the house.

When I put my purse and coat down, I dumped the other mail onto the desk and looked at the big envelope ... and then I understood the mail girl's reaction to me.

The parcel was addressed to:
Daniel Radcliffe
c/o  my name and address

I guess the poor girl thought I had Dan hidden under my bed!

(I wish)

I'm sure most of you are now scratching your heads and going WTF?  Well, the envelope was addressed that way because it was indeed mail for Dan.  I'm going back to New York at the end of the month and I'll be delivering another package ... this time a "Farewell Box" of sorts, like we (our Dan fan group) did with the Welcome Box on the first preview day.  (I tried to post a link to my Welcome Box post, but can't make it work ... probably because I'm so doped up on cold medicine that I'm having trouble remembering my own name, let alone how to use complicated LJ coding.  Anyway, if you're curious, click on my gary oldman tag ... that will be the only entry that comes up).

I have to say, I really got a laugh out of this ... and I really needed one today because I feel really crappy.

But if our mail carrier is the chatty sort and starts talking about Dan getting mail here, I'll probably get home from work and find a couple dozen fanteenies on my front lawn.
