He was arguing that women shouldn't be allowed in combat because it's just different for them, and a bunch of people called him on being a MCP, and he was all "Fine! See [all this Feminist Cred] that I do, well, I'm just not going to BOTHER any more, NOW do you feel better?"
I get the "I'm hurt by the accusation, when I try very hard, and have done [all this]." I don't get the "and now I'm not gonna doooooo it any mooooooore!" flounce.
Oh, I get the latter; it was a blatant attempt to get the rest of the people in the discussion to dogpile me for having driven this Poor Sainted Man beyond all patience. (And admittedly, what I'd said was pretty provocative; I was past trying to engage with him on the ground of reason, because it wasn't getting any traction.) As I recall, the tactic didn't work as well as he was expecting it to.
Ah. I'm really irked by the Saints & Villains version of the world. (I'm also *over* the idea of That Place, or any place, as a safe haven for *everyone*.)
