I'm thinking that someone who gets mad at [specific person], and therefore feels like hitting [that same specific person], OK, not the best solution, but at least they're taking it out on the actual person who pissed them off.
Someone who gets mad at [specific person], and therefore feels like hitting some random other person who happens to have the same sex, race, religion, nationality, orientation, or some other trait as [specific person] is denying the individual humanity of people with that trait.
Feels like hitting? Yeah, most of us are not at a point where we're non-violent in our thoughts all the time.
Actually hitting?
Getting mad about generalities, and taking it out on an individual, or getting mad at an individual, and taking it out on the general category... Ay yi yi.

If only people wouldn't *imply* there was something racist going on, everything would be all COLORBLIND and Dr. Martin Luther King, jr. would be so PROUD. Why do you hate on Dr. King?!
He was arguing that women shouldn't be allowed in combat because it's just different for them, and a bunch of people called him on being a MCP, and he was all "Fine! See [all this Feminist Cred] that I do, well, I'm just not going to BOTHER any more, NOW do you feel better?"
I get the "I'm hurt by the accusation, when I try very hard, and have done [all this]." I don't get the "and now I'm not gonna doooooo it any mooooooore!" flounce.
