Summary: In a Japan where the Fangire rule the world, Wataru finds himself in Taiga's services...

Sometimes, Kurenai Wataru wondered how the heck he’d gotten himself into this mess. He wondered where he’d failed as Kiva to protect humanity and how things had gotten so far, so badly.

He was 23 now… three years has gone by and the Fangire showed no signs of loosening their grip on the world. From the outside, it looked like nothing had changed… but he knew better.

Any human who showed promise in the evolution of humanity was slaughtered like cattle, their bodies strung up for others to see. Fangire who dared to love humans were also killed, by a reluctant, but somewhat hardened Suzuki Mio, who also killed the humans. The humans lived in fear of the Fangire, who controlled the governments, but stopped at dominating their lives, preferring to let fear do it for them.

Sometimes, it made Wataru feel sick to think he belonged to such a race and other times, well… he wasn’t sure what to think.

When he was 21, Taiga had come to him and made him a deal. The people Wataru held dear, Shizuka, Megumi, Nago, Kengo, even Kivat and Tatsulot… would be spared death… if Wataru submitted himself to the Fangire… completely.

Desperate to spare his friends, he agreed, not even thinking, much less caring about the consequences… until he realized it meant becoming full Fangire…and submitting to Taiga’s will… in every way.

“You should be happy for this, Wataru.” Taiga said one morning over breakfast. “This is the sort of world we deserve. Humanity and Fangire, living side by side… but Fangire truly ruling…”

Wataru said nothing; he simply forced himself to eat. The sick feeling was back and he tried not to look at Taiga too much. He found Taiga handsome, but something about being with his brother felt wrong… yet right at the same time.

“I could get used to truly being King.” Taiga crowed. “It’s so exhilarating…living like the King I was born to be. I have everything… and everyone… that I want.” He smiled at Wataru and his hand stroked the golden wristlet Wataru was forced to wear. “So beautiful…” His gaze was admiring as it swept over Wataru.

The golden wristlets and the matching collar only served as daily reminders of what Wataru had been forced to give up: his freedom and his humanity. A full Fangire, Wataru was kept under strict control, the restraints keeping his power under control.

Secretly, Wataru thought Taiga got off at the idea of him in a collar and had put the golden things on him just for show. He admitted, there were times when he did not mind being with Taiga… but this morning was not one of them. His stomach turned. “May I be excused?” he asked, politely, desperate to get out of Taiga’s gaze.

“Is there something wrong, Wataru?” Taiga asked, curious. “Are you ill?”

“Yes.” Wataru lied. Well, it wasn’t a total lie. He did feel ill and he wanted to get out of Taiga’s presence and into a shower.

“Go rest, then.” Taiga had a glass of wine. “I don’t want to force you into anything if you’re not well.”

Wataru nodded and rushed out of the dining room. He figured a cool shower would help him calm down. After all, Taiga was not all bad. He had his moments. Wataru could understand that as King, Taiga’s duty was to protect and ensure that the Fangire race was superior… he just didn’t always agree with what his brother said or did.

He preferred it when he had been able to live life as a human. Things were simpler, he was happier. That was all there was to it.

After his bath, Wataru walked into his bedroom and began to get dressed, wondering why Taiga was so lenient with him. Wataru was a pampered “slave”; Taiga gave him whatever it was he wanted and made him as comfortable as possible. In exchange, Wataru had given up just about everything… except the Bloody Rose.

Wataru picked up the violin from its special case and began to play, remembering the days when it had just been him in his home, being content to live as he wished. He liked those days.

“Your music never fails to touch my heart.” Taiga appeared in the bedroom door. “You should consider becoming a professional.”

Wataru turned red in the presence of his King. “I’m not that good.”

“Nonsense…you’re wonderful.” Taiga came closer, his eyes warm, but also lustful. Wataru wondered if brothers were supposed to look at one another like that. “I can call some people…” His fingers traced lightly up Wataru’s spine. “Get you into an orchestra…”

“That’s not necessary.” Wataru’s face was red. “I’m happier playing just for you and me. I get nervous when I give concerts.”

“I understand…” Taiga stroked Wataru’s face. “I shouldn’t rush you… there’s only so much I’m comfortable with letting you do.”

When Taiga said things like that, it only reminded Wataru that no matter what luxuries Taiga gave him, that he was still a prisoner.

Taiga smiled and titled his chin up. “That bath seems to have done you good. You seem to be in much better spirits.”

“Yes…” Wataru admitted. “But…”

“You’re not in the mood. That’s okay.” Taiga smiled. “You’ll be in the mood eventually. Wouldn’t want to rush you.”

Wataru swallowed hard. At least Taiga wasn’t forceful. The problem was that he WAS in fact, “in the mood”, but that feeling of guilt, that he shouldn’t be doing things like this with his brother, had returned.

“Taiga…” Wataru murmured, his face still beet red.

He knew that voice and he knew that blush. He gently took the violin from his pet, careful to treat it like the treasure it was and put it back in its case. Taiga then gently went to Wataru and made him look into his eyes. “It’s all right, Wataru-kun. I understand. You’re nervous and scared, but it will be okay. As long as I have you, and you have me, the world is perfect.” He kissed Wataru then, his palms on his cheeks.

Despite the knot in his stomach, Wataru returned the kiss, albeit shyly, his cheek affectionately rubbing into Taiga’s palms. He liked it more when Taiga was more affectionate. It made him feel comfortable, safe… and almost normal.

Taiga smiled. “I’d never do anything to hurt you or cause you pain, you know that right, Wataru-kun?”

“Yes.” Wataru nodded, the knot in his stomach fading, but it returned with a vengeance when Taiga’s gaze swept over him.

“Do you trust me?” The tone was warming, sensuous and Wataru shivered. He opened his mouth and Taiga kissed him again, his arms sliding around Wataru’s slender frame.

Wataru whimpered; the kiss felt so good and he couldn’t help himself. Wataru’s fingers slid into Taiga’s hair, the golden wristlets brushing against Taiga’s skin. The feel of the metal warm on his skin made Taiga shudder and he pulled Wataru closer.

Despite how he often found himself feeling, Wataru was forced to admit that more often than not, he enjoyed Taiga’s company… so he didn’t question. He just indulged.

Taiga broke the kiss to press a warm kiss to the golden color around Wataru’s neck. He hated to admit that only the wristlets kept Wataru in check and that he just liked seeing Wataru in the collar, but that was the truth… although he did enjoy seeing Wataru out of the collar, too. “All mine…” He murmured. “That’s what you are, Wataru-kun… mine.”

The possessive tone of Taiga’s voice made Wataru whimper and his body tensed as the collar was removed from his neck and the Fangire King kissed his throat. “Taiga-sama…” The “sama” had just slipped out, where from, Wataru wasn’t sure...but when Taiga looked up at him, those eyes burning with passion, Wataru moaned.

It was the moan that set Taiga off.

“Come here…” he growled, pulling Wataru to him, giving him another kiss. This one was rougher, harder, but more passionate than ever. Under the onslaught, Wataru was lost.

The kisses got harder, rougher and Taiga’s hands began to move to places that made Wataru whimper and reciprocate, pulling at Taiga’s clothing. Hands on bare skin only made it too warm and they began to undress messily, stumbling back against the bed.

Wataru let out a cute yelp and Taiga couldn’t help himself and dove in for the kill.

Some hours later, as they lay together, Taiga fastened a new collar around Wataru’s neck. This one had his mark on it and was black leather. It felt warm against Wataru’s skin and Taiga pressed a kiss to the collar and then to Wataru’s lips.

“This one suits you more.” Taiga murmured, his fingers in Wataru’s hair. “It looks better.”

“Thank you.” Secretly, Wataru hated having to wear this sort of thing at all, but Taiga had good taste, so he never spoke up.

“When I return…” Taiga got up from the bed after a few more kisses and began to dress for a board meeting. “…We’ll be putting those wristlets to good use, yes?”

Wataru nodded. “We will…”

Taiga pressed a kiss to Wataru’s forehead and smiled. “See? Didn’t I tell you this would be beneficial to both of us in the end?”

“Yes, Taiga-sama.” Wataru replied, softly. There was still a knot in his stomach.

“Now, be a good boy and don’t get into trouble.” Taiga murmured as he left the bedroom. “I’ll be back before you know it.”

When the door closed behind him and Wataru heard the apartment lock, he looked out the window sadly. Sometimes, he wondered what it would be like if he hadn’t failed as Kiva…

…And other times he would wonder if he was forgetting what it was like to be free, for he found himself liking his situation more often than not…
