As promised, I went down to the Brick after work yesterday to make sure they would repair the ripped seam on my couch. The customer service lady did not want to repair it, because she tried to tell me it was like that when I bought it... but then admitted that if, in a year form now, I were to have the same problem, it would be covered by the warranty I bought with no questions asked. Which totally pissed me off.
They didn't have any other floor models of that couch to exchange for me, so the two options she presented to me were: 1) I could return my furniture and get my money back or 2) I could pay another $600 and get a brand new version of my couch. (It's a $1000 couch and I paid $400 for mine.) She didn't want to give me a brand new couch and I can appreciate that. And apparently the place that tore is really difficult to repair - and they were not even going to pay for the repairs (even though my warranty should have covered it) because it would cost them hundreds of dollars.
Option 1 was not an option - it took us forever to find furniture we both liked. Option 2 made me laugh out loud. Right, lady. Here's an extra $600 for you, no problem. Riiiight.
I was not leaving without some kind of acceptable resolution, and I got mad and generally made a scene until they figured something out.
They are going to let me return my torn couch and purchase a new one at half price. This means that I will have to pay $100 more, but at least the couch I'll be getting will be brand new, not a floor model.
I am going to get it in writing from now on though, that the seams of all our furniture (couch, loveseat, chair and ottoman) are covered under the warranty. They can come to my apartment and see for themselves that there are no rips in the furniture right now and anything that happens in the next five years will be fixed at no charge to me. I mean, that is why I bought the warranty in the first place.

Speaking of annoyances, I went to the dentist for another consultation yesterday at lunchtime. And I was informed that they are not removing my wisdom teeth on November 7 as I previously thought. Honestly, this is so frustrating. I need two things done. A cap replacement procedure, and my wisdom teeth removed. Why do I need three consultation appointments without them even doing anything? I mean, I guess I know why, but it is still annoying. Especially since getting dental work done makes me nervous and I just want it over with! Being worried about it before it happens is the worst part!
But these are both annoyances from yesterday. Nothing has happened to annoy me today... yet. The day is still young!
