Jay Asher at Anderson's Sans Glitter
For the two of you that don't know, Jay Asher wrote the ever-popular 13 REASONS WHY.
Usually Jay is seen at the LA SCBWI Conferences dressed in some get-up, winning awards for best costume.
So I totally thought Jay would show up in sequins and maybe a feather bustier or something last night. But when it was just "real Jay" I was like, wow, that's how he REALLY looks?
Anderson's was bombarded with a slew of 13 REASONS fans.
Debut teen authors Kristina Springer and Kristin Walker showed their support.
Later, Kristin almost kicked my ass after a fight over a restaurant bill. Honestly, she's way too nice and always wants to buy me things. My God, friends can be soooo friendly sometimes. Ugh.
Other author pals pretended to be paparazzi.

Late last night, Jay called them and got all Hollywood, pointing fingers and spitting swears.
Ok. He didn't. But that's what would happen in the reality show version of Jay's booksigning.
Overall, Jay's talk was inspiring and honest. He shared emails from fans who were impacted by 13 REASONS. Teens who attempted suicide. Others who were depressed. The best email came from a reader who said 13 REASONS made them want to be a better person. Be more aware of others. Be kind and thoughtful.
