Now That's What I Call Formulaic Songwriting...

Remember how I used to be a musician? And remember how I'm currently studying Chinese Medicine? Well, I finally did something about that correlation and starting writing a bunch of ludicrously cheesy songs. These songs are not just for fun though; they are meant as mnemonics to help me remember key details about herbal formulas, such as the ingredients, and the main functions.

First I was just writing the words down so I could sing the tunes to myself, but then I had a jones for recording something, and being unable to justify recording anything else, I decided to record my formula songs.

So without further ado, here's a couple of samples for y'all. (Note to shippehmandy, mundungus42, and any other TMBG fans: the second track linked to here is sung to the tune of "James K Polk")

(I suggest opening links in a separate tab...)

Cong Chi Tang vs. Jiang Cong Hong Tang Tang -- Sung to tune of "Dummy Song" by Louis Armstrong
length: 0:43

Fang Feng Tong Sheng San -- Sung to the tune of "James K Polk" by TMBG
length: 2:02

A little baffling perhaps? Most of the Chinese is simply listing the ingredients, with a couple of exceptions. Some of the English, for that matter, is not so much English as it is TCM Jargon.

music, fun, acupuncture etc.
