ep 6.2 - Two Men and a Baby

Yay, I loved this episode a whole heck of a lot. Sam and Dean were, at times at least, being Sam and Dean. After last episode I wasn't sure how long it would be before they at least looked at each other as anything but casual acquaintances.

Those babies were adorable. I liked that the comedy of two men trying to take care of an infant wasn't overdone. It was really just the shopping trip (pretty darn funny) and that was it.

Ok, the Campbells...I like them. Not in an "I wish you were my family" kind of way, but in a "who are you and why are you doing what you are doing" way. I am intrigued, and that is why I watch this show. Unlike most I don't think I hate Christian (but why did they have to kill off the pretty one). He seems like a hunter. But he and Arlene (his wife?) want to have a baby, so he clearly has a human side.

Samuel....what are you up to? I am guessing you are collecting creatures for something, but who and why? And are you evil or just not quite on the up and up. I do know I don't want him to be completely evil, mainly because I don't want Sam to face another betrayal by someone he trusts. Season 5 revealed that Sam had a huge number of people in his life who were there solely for the purpose of forcing him a certain direction. I don't want that for him. How would he ever trust anyone again? I have a theory, but it is spoilery so I will put it at the end.

Two Sams on my TV screen will make any episode a great one for me. He looked AMAZING.

So certain segments of fandom are in an uproar about Sam telling about Dean's time in hell.....but did he? I have no idea, but I would assume that if the writers wanted to confirm something like that they would have had Dean confront him. Dean didn't, he didn't even seem to really care. Not sure what to make of that.

On a related note, I am not sure if we are supposed to think that Sam was using the baby as bait. Sam definitely was not in the room when the shapeshifter told Dean about his father, so who knows.

I don't really have a problem with Lisa and Ben, but I also really don't want to watch them on my screen. There are a ton of mysteries to focus on, and it seemed like a lot of screentime was taken up with Lisa being wary of Dean. I get why they did it, and I actually like that they didn't end it, but I really prefer the darkness and mystery of the Campbells storyline. Plus she looked distractingly orange a lot of the time.

Okay my theory..............

EOnline was asked whether Samuel was evil or not, and the answer was not to trust him. Clearly that could mean he is evil, but it could also mean that he simply has his own agenda. We know he has a "boss", he is collecting these creatures for someone. So what if that someone is the person who pulled Sam out of hell and Samuel out of heaven? And what if they are holding a hostage.

At comic con Jared mentioned that Sam wasn't looking for who brought him out of hell because he didn't want to go back. In a very recent interview he twice mentioned that Sam had been to hell a couple of time. So is it possible that whoever Samuel was talking to on the phone has already sent Sam back to the cage once, and is now holding that over Samuel's head? Maybe what will look like a betrayal midseason will in the end turn out to be an act of protection and love.

Then again, maybe Sam, Samuel, Christian, Gwen, and the pretty and now dead Mark will all just be evil. (But I hope not)
