AA introduced new charges for checked bags a while back. Their old table used to be very clear about when you pay for bikes and when you don't, For example, in the old days you ALWAYS paid $80 for a bike box each way, and could check two suitcases for free on domestic flights. I arrived at DFW Dallas only to find all the flights to Austin were canceled, because of the weather/storms. The best American could do was to confirm me on a flight for 10:30 in the morning, getting me in at 11:20 - they also gave me a distressed passenger reservation at the Best Western Arlington.

I had dinner with Mum and Dad last night, saw Julie briefly and then drove up to Gatwick Airport and stayed overnight at the Hilton. This mornings' 10:50 flight should have been easy.

I arrived back in the UK late last night. When you arrive at Heathrow T3 late in the evening, it's a dismal place, everything is closed, most people have gone, you can see how scruffy the place is. Contrasted with the hundreds of $millions they've spend on the outside of T3, to make it look modern, thats just lipstick on a pig though ( Read more... )

After this mornings Heathrow debacle, and desperate to make the early flight rather than have to "endure" 3-hours in the AA Flagship lounge at O'Hare, it was a mad sprint from the plane to the gate, and I missed the early flight. Still, thats free drink and food for 3-hours, oh and a comfortable seat, a desk, free wireless etc.

I'm on American Airlines flight from the UK to Chicago, they bring around the late afternoon food tray for cattle class. On the tray is one small deepdish pizza(pretty decent), a shortbread cookie in the wrapper, and a small pack of grapes ( Read more... )

I'm in the AA Flagship lounge at T3 London Heathrow. This place, the airport not the lounge, just gets worse, as much as thats hard to believe.
