I just got back from seeing Inception
(rundown: new Christopher Nolan film, Leo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, lots of confusing stuff about dreams)
And HOLY CRAP, IT IS AWESOME. I KNOW I USE THAT WORD A LOT BUT THIS REALLY DOES DESERVE IT. IT IS AWESOME AND EPIC AND JUST, JUST... well, you get the idea.
The end made me sort of... sad and happy at the same time. That will make sense when you've seen it. Assuming you manage to get through what is quite a long film holding three/four different realities, each with its own timeline, in your head at the same time. It's not easy, but it's worth it.
Also, bonus!Michael Caine and bonus!Marion Cotillard, which is always nice.
Shipping, shipping... right now, I'm thinking Eames/Arthur, Dom/Ariadne, with a dash of Arthur&Ariadne BFFness.
(I'm so embarrassed, because I should have remembered this, but I didn't actually make the Eames = Tom Hardy connection until the credits. Maybe I was so involved it didn't occur to me. Whatever, he's awesome, the character was fantastic, all good.)
I also feel the curious urge to start writing prequel fic. i.e., "how Dom and/or Arthur know these guys" fic. Or just pre-movie Dom/Mal, IDK.
CONCLUSION: GO SEE THIS FILM.
I'm serious. I've had to revise my Top Five Movies Ever list. It's now..
1. The Fall (NOTHING beats that, sorry)
2. Inception
3. Waitress
4. Blade Runner
5. Kick-Ass
So. Five stars. Shit, SIX stars. Ten stars, a hundred stars, as many stars as you want. GO SEE THIS FILM.
PS. I'm becoming obsessed with Leo DiCaprio. It started with Shutter Island, and it's getting worse....
