She doesn't handle heat very well, so I'm guessing that's part of it. She and her mother passed through Casper on the way to North Dakota last summer and decided the area was too hot to be fit for habitation.
My Master Plan (tm) is to visit Yellowstone with her, and make a side trip to Riverton and Thermopolis for the upper Wind River canyon, hot springs and the fossils. I'm thinking late spring or early fall - there's a bigger chance of snow in the passes, but it's cooler.
As you can see from my winter coat, mid-September is significantly cooler in Northern Wyoming than July/August... and when we were there in May two years ago, it snowed (not much, but still... snow.) So avoiding the two months of dry, brutal heat can bring other issues, as you know. I hope it works out for you; sounds like a great MP! I love it when other people love Wyoming ;)
I have relatives there, spread out all over but mostly in Riverton, Casper and Cheyenne, but I've only seen a little of the state. I've been in Riverton and past Thermopolis, but never got as far as Greybull, for example. Last time I was there, the first snowfall in Yellowstone was in August - I'm aware of the narrow No Blizzard period each year ;)
