Snakes everywhere

Found this sitting in the driveway, unfortunately dead:



It's a Monterey (?) Ring-Necked Snake. As you can see it's barely the length of a brick. It has a sort of nacreous sheen. Never seen one before.



It's vaguely venomous and preys on bugs, slugs, worms, and atoms.



I suspect it was run over. Though incidentally, this was also found sitting in the driveway, unfortunately  dead  critically retarded  alive:



Would've eaten it if he were the culprit, however. He ate an entire rabbit a couple months ago.
