Re-read books

I've been reading books longer than most of you guys (but maybe that just means I'm a slow reader . . . ?), but I probably don't read as many on an annual basis. Here are some I've read more than twice:

The Aubrey-Maturin novels of Patrick O'Brian. Yes they are historical fiction, set during the Napoleonic wars. Their main delight for me is the perfect recreation of time and scene, with language, attitudes, characters and details that put you in another era. (I was going to quote a passage to convince you, but each is so perfect (if given in adequate length) that I couldn't choose, and my fingers are too lazy to type as much as I'd like.)

Ender's Game, of course

The Lord of the Rings

Then there are the books I have read repeatedly to my children, such as The Hobbit, Beyond the Paw-Paw Trees, and Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books, but I don't read them any more. Perhaps if my grandchildren lived closer . . . .

I have read most of The Bible and the English translation of the Qur'an several times.

I'm sure there are some others, but I can't call them to mind.
