Every year, the town that Arthur and Eames lived in had an event called "Pastels on the Plaza." While it had evolved past pastels on the concrete, it now included all types of art; chalk drawings, people working on canvases in the green rounded plaza in the center of town.
Eames always went, as a participant. He gathered up pastels and blocked off a piece of cement for himself to do a piece on. While he usually did original work, this year he was choosing to do Alphonse Mucha's Salome. Talking with Arthur about Mucha had gotten him thinking about the man's work and it seemed appropriate.
Eames was dressed in old, ratty jeans and a red checkered shirt, hands smeared with pastels as he worked, leaning over his space. One thumb had a bandage on it, having been ripped open when he was 'blending' with his fingers.
