It wasn't the first time that Eames had had Arthur over. Nor was it the first time that they had slipped into his parents bedroom to look for cigarettes (Arthur having gotten a slightly aghast look when Eames called them fags) or loose change.
Eames at 16 was a thick teen; broad shouldered but still short, with baby fat still persisting on his body (and making him a bit self conscious, perhaps the reason he had taken to refining his sneaking, stealing and intimidating skills.) But he was fascinated with Arthur, who was from America, and seemed so much more different from him. Almost like the yin to his yang, he thought wistfully sometimes.
Arthur thought his jokes were funny, would smile when Eames shared his food or gave him (stole him) things. Eames thought Arthur was brilliant, really; glad that he didn't have to change how he talked with Arthur, could share his love of books along with his love of cigarettes.
Eames ran a hand along the brim of his hat as they glanced around his parent's room.
"They've gotten clever, started hiding the cigs. Not the change, I don't think they've caught that yet. Count the cigarettes more than the change," he laughed dryly, reaching to pull open a dresser drawer.
