Well, nearly. I know of two here. But being back in Iowa is oddly calming. I hear the usual gossip about former classmates, many of whom (and I smirk wickedly to myself) seem to be doing quite poorly. It's funny how many people move away but come crawling back to this craphole of a town.
STILL,
It's not that bad actually. Still, sitting at one of my favorite (and overpriced, even by Bay Area standards) cafes I am struck gaain by how educated, but ignorant, this population may be. The woman sitting on the patio in front of me may know a lot about language discrimination by human newborns and cotton-top Tamarin monkeys (a juxtaposition I find amusing yet troubling), but how would she view me, my ideas, my experiences, my world?
YESTERDAY
Last night we had $2 "Big Ass Beers." I also ordered a quesadilla, chips & salsa, and grilled cheese. The good thing about IOWA is that everything (except coffee, apparently) is damn cheap. Met an old enemy now turned acquaintance. Remininscing is always great.
TODAY
Armed with caffeine + 4 hours of sleep, I am now inspired to check out the library/ pull out my yoga mat/ clean out the fish tank/ write some damn good emails.
TOMORROW
