Red Riding Hood am I

Met up w/Aesop. Had a great time. I didn't realize how much I'd missed Berkeley. It's nice to see people walking around, talking, having a good time, being human. I saw more people than cars today. Ok, I didn't. But one can only hope ...

We watched "The Woodsman," the new Kevin Bacon film about being a convicted child molester released on parole. It was good, but difficult to watch. I also watched my first preview of an NC-17 rated movie - "The Making of Deep Throat" or some crap like that. Not on my list of "must-sees," but interesting nonetheless. We had about 2 hours to kill before the movie, which we spent wandering up and down University, Shattuck and Hearst.

I need to move to Berkeley. Everyone seemed not only very young, but happy. Moreover, people were actually taking the bus, the BART, or walking ... rather than crusing by in Ford Explorers. I sat in a McDonalds waiting for Aesop to empty his puny bladder, and listened to a man talk about becoming vegetarian and detoxing, in order to preserve your body for post-death travels. I saw a woman at the bus stop practicing Tai Chi fiercely, and I saw lots and lots and lots of restaurants and shops and I felt like I was on vacation. Instead, it was only a 40 minute jaunt from the sprawling suburb known as the South Bay.

It's good to keep in touch with those who once occupied important spots in your life because you remember why ... Seeing Aesop was nice. Toad called tonight and left a rambling message, which was not quite as nice but was not bad either.
