There was no intention to do a roadtrip to Malacca again. But then a visiting professor needed a ride up to see her relatives, so it seemed like a good idea to just make a family trip out of it. Of course we got stuck in a major jam thanks to the biometric fingerprinting system instituted at the checkpoint to Malaysia. But let's not dwell on the unpleasant.
We didn't do anything particularly special. We shopped - Gail's tiny and the shops there featuring all the kawaii-sized clothes for the petite just got her excited. So we went into shop after shop to hunt down bargains. I ended up buying two dresses for myself as well. Who would have thought I could have found stuff to buy for myself in the midst of all the frilly lacy teeny-bopperish fashion? Eug and Craig were rather patient. Quite early on we've all established that the best way to go about this amicably was for the boys to sit in a cafe and read/ play with their electronic devices while the ladies poked their noses into the shops.
We also went to the fort in the evening before dinner because Gail said she wanted to get in touch with her Portuguese roots. So here we are.
Foodwise, it was the same old same old. Nando's for lunch, Peranakan food for dinner, the Jonker Street night market for snacks and little bites, hotel buffet for breakfast. Losers that we are, we were most happy with the A&W lunch we had before we left Malacca. I miss Coney Dogs.
That's all I guess. Malacca was a pleasant little roadtrip and made for some family time. My next trip is relatively longer. London here I come!
