Tatty:His Room:Rocking and Tatty in New Boots

Jan 22, 2005 19:09

As Tatty slowed his rocking his vision became clearer, and he realized that he was alone in his room. Anna and Jack were gone, how long had they been gone? One glance at the door reminded Tatty why he was so upset; the boots. There they sat, next to the door, glaring at him, black and large, and his eyes trailed back down to his own tattered BootsRead more... )

The moment that Anna entered her room, having walked away from the scene in Jack's workshop. She found that the tears would be held back no longer, they streamed down her face, making it hard to see. Her breath caught in her throat and her chest was tight and constricted. Through her blurry eyes, she saw Tatty, in his rocking chair, tatting. It was all so normal, seeing him sitting there, tatting away and he looked so calm. Blidly, she found herself next to her bed, instead of sitting on it though, she slide down the wall next to it, tucking her legs under and bringing her hands up as the tears fell harder and faster. She hated to cry in front of people and she didn't want Tatty to see her so completely upset. She tried to get herself under control, to explain, so he didn't worry. But every time she opened her mouth, Ebony's face was there. The look. It'd been so angry. What had she done? Was it wrong to kiss people in the mall? No... that was ridiculous. What was it ( ... )

Tatty slowed down in the chair when he heard the first sniffle, he'd long ago become lost in his inner mind, remembering happier times, his escape. Looking up, he found Anna leaning against the wall, sliding down it, tears staining her face. His heart clenched up with fear, if Anna was crying they were all dead, it was not a good sign. He perched further out on the edge of the rocker, setting his tatting down behind him before standing, gliding across the room to her. He was beside her in the blink of an eye, his right arm around her shoulders, pulling her into him for a hug. His natural rocking motion took over and he rocked her from side to side gently, it comforted him if it did nothing for her ( ... )

Anna felt the comforting weight of Tatty's arm around her shoulder and he slowly rocked her. The motion was soothing enough that her body stopped shaking quite so badly. Her chest was still tight and she felt so tense. Though the shaking had stopped for the most part, her stomach was upset from all the crying. Dropping her hand into her lap, she leaned into Tatty, letting her head drop lightly onto his shoulder. The tears continued to slide slowly out of her eyes, though she was no longer sobbing. She hiccuped quietly as Tatty's voice washed over her, comfortingly. Those his words were mostly helpful and nice to hear, she was worried about Ryan. It was only a matter of time till Ebony said something to someone ( ... )

Willow followed Sammy from the Music Room and entered Anna's room, formulating an opinion of Jack that was not a very happy one at the moment. Anna was sat on the floor, Tatty had his arms around her and he was rocking back and forth, never ever a good sign. Willow moved quickly past them and slid down next to Anna, on the other side, her hand on Anna's knee. "What's wrong," she breathed out, scared and worried, and really really angry.

"That Jack, he's a jerk Anna! He kissed you, didn't he? He said he's still in love with that other girl, Ellie, he's a jerk! Forget him, Ryan and Kerry'll pound him!" She was so angry, she was spitting the words out, but the look on Anna's face made her stop and give a sympathetic press of her lips together. "What happened?"

Anna offered Tatty a small smile. It made her feel better that he liked the boots she'd found for him. "No, no one will throw those out. I promise." Giving his hand a small squeeze, Anna broke eye contact and swung her legs off the bed. Absently, she wiped at her eyes. When she pulled her hand back, she found that a little of her make-up had come off too. Willow was sitting at the end of bed, but Sammy had left the room. Her clothes weren't where she'd left them, they were sitting on Tatty's bed. Willow must've picked them up for her. "Thanks," she said, walking over to Willow and giving her a quick hug. "Look," she said softly, "why don't you go get changed for the wedding, and I'll do the same. Then, if you want, I'll do your hair for you. Just come back here when your ready." Anna wanted to make-up for not doing Willow's nails earlier. Tatty still sat on her bed, "Tatty, would you mind just stepping outside for a moment so that I can get changed ( ... )

Kerry left Jack and made his way to Anna's room. As he walked over, he saw her pop her head out and call for Tatty. She was dressed for the wedding, he guessed. She seemed to be feeling a bit better.

He leaned on the doorframe and smiled at her spinning frame. She was like his second actual sister, even though they weren't blood related."You look beautiful, Anna."

Tatty followed Willow out of the room, lingering as closely to the doorway as he could, his back pressed tightly against the wall. He was afraid to be alone by himself out here in the open, but he respected Anna's need for privacy. They hadn't had that back at the house, but things were different here, and if she wanted to take advantage of their set up, he understood. He didn't realize he was playing with the gauzy curtain that covered the door to their room until he felt the raw heat, dropping it ( ... )
