Tatty:His Room:Rocking and Tatty in New Boots

Jan 22, 2005 19:09

As Tatty slowed his rocking his vision became clearer, and he realized that he was alone in his room. Anna and Jack were gone, how long had they been gone? One glance at the door reminded Tatty why he was so upset; the boots. There they sat, next to the door, glaring at him, black and large, and his eyes trailed back down to his own tattered BootsRead more... )

Anna offered Tatty a small smile. It made her feel better that he liked the boots she'd found for him. "No, no one will throw those out. I promise." Giving his hand a small squeeze, Anna broke eye contact and swung her legs off the bed. Absently, she wiped at her eyes. When she pulled her hand back, she found that a little of her make-up had come off too. Willow was sitting at the end of bed, but Sammy had left the room. Her clothes weren't where she'd left them, they were sitting on Tatty's bed. Willow must've picked them up for her. "Thanks," she said, walking over to Willow and giving her a quick hug. "Look," she said softly, "why don't you go get changed for the wedding, and I'll do the same. Then, if you want, I'll do your hair for you. Just come back here when your ready." Anna wanted to make-up for not doing Willow's nails earlier. Tatty still sat on her bed, "Tatty, would you mind just stepping outside for a moment so that I can get changed?"

After they'd both left the room, Anna walked over to Tatty's bed where her clothes were still laid out. The gold twinkled at her and she ran her hand over the fabric, feeling the lace above the smooth material underneath. Slipping her shirt and skirt off, she set them on the bed, and dropped the dress over her head. Anna then proceeded to tug it into place. It fit nicely, though it was a little loose in areas. She was glad that she'd grabbed the jacket to go with the dress though, or she'd be showing more skin than she liked. Bending over, she picked up the over shirt and pulled it on, tying it in the front. "Wow. This is a lot of gold," she murmued, straightening the dress once more and feeling self conscience. Pulling her old earrings out, Anna carefully put the new gold bangles she'd found in. They bumped softly against her neck when she moved her head from side to side. Placing her the strappy gold sandles on the floor, Anna decided that she'd put them on just before the wedding. They looked a little uncomfortable and she wasn't sure that she'd want to stand in them for very long.

After she was dressed, Anna bent over and looked through her small bag of possessions. At the very bottom, was the small amount of that Anna owned. Looking in a small hand held mirror, Anna looked at the damage that her tears had done to it. The thought led to Ebony, and from them, to Jack. She frowned at the mirror, wondering if he was alright and whether Ebony was still yelling at him. Though she wanted to go check on him, make sure everything was alright, Anna was way too scared of Ebony. Wiping off the rest of her makeup gently, she set about to re-applying it. She drew the three lines under her left cheek, and the small swirl on her right. Popping her head out of the room, "Alright Tatty, I'm all dressed." Stepping back in, she spun slowly. "Do I looked alright?"

Kerry left Jack and made his way to Anna's room. As he walked over, he saw her pop her head out and call for Tatty. She was dressed for the wedding, he guessed. She seemed to be feeling a bit better.

He leaned on the doorframe and smiled at her spinning frame. She was like his second actual sister, even though they weren't blood related."You look beautiful, Anna."

Tatty followed Willow out of the room, lingering as closely to the doorway as he could, his back pressed tightly against the wall. He was afraid to be alone by himself out here in the open, but he respected Anna's need for privacy. They hadn't had that back at the house, but things were different here, and if she wanted to take advantage of their set up, he understood. He didn't realize he was playing with the gauzy curtain that covered the door to their room until he felt the raw heat, dropping it.

Fidgeting on his feet, he glanced down the corridor, watching Kerry and Macy down in another doorway, people talking heatedly. Tatty didn't want to hear what was being said, not at all, and he turned his eyes to the floor. The decorations for the wedding were blocking his view of the rest of the Mall's first floor, and that only gave him a modicum of relief. If he couldn't see them, they couldn't see him.

Anna called him back inside and he sighed with relief, darting back into the room, the curtain flying behind him, Tatty stopped and fidgted, his hands seemingly making invisible lace. "Ye-yes," he said softly, turning as he was interrupted. Kerry, did that mean Macy was not far behind? Tatty blushed and looked down, turning away and heading over to his rocking chair, sitting down and rocking. This time he'd try to pay attention to the room instead of tatting, but it was true that he really really wanted to tat instead.
