Mmmmmm.. I love my black and white photography teacher. He's awesome. Funny, clever, intelligent, and world-traveled. We needed teachers like him and Neubauer in high school. Why did we always get the rejects?
Anyhoo.. some of you know the trials and tribulation I had going into this class. I could not find a 35mm camera with a lens anywhere in the tri-state area. On top of that, I knew I needed a special black and white film.... Again... had trouble finding that. THEN.. I'll need printing paper and negative storage sleeves.
In a big city this wouldnt be a problem.. but those of you from around here know why this sucks so many balls. I tried all the thrift stores.. No camera... Sunday I had just about given up hope of finding one before class, but Jim made a trip to Phoenix, so I had him pick me up on.. I got a tight ass Nikon N55 28-38mm camera.. Beautiful. I found b & w film at wal-mart.. after calling them and having them tell me that they dont keep any in stock.... Still no paper or storage sleeves tho.
So I show up to class tonight, and I find out that the bookstore sells storage sleeves.. rock on. ALSO... big important thing... He admitted that there was nowhere in town to buy printing paper, and said we can order some from this catalog that he has, and he'll lend us paper till it gets there. AWESOME!!!! Crisis averted! He also told us that he teaches a digital photography course, so if any of us have digicams, to take his class.. Well.. I do indeed have a digicam.. but his class is on thursdays... and I have intro to AJS on thursday.. poopies
Anyhoo... I have to take a full roll of pics this week.. That's 24 pictures... I'm nervous.. I'm soooo spoiled by my digicam... DOn't know what to use as a subject... Thinking of some early morning shots.... but I dont have a flash bulb yet for my cam...
I'd appreciate some ideas for pictures... My tastes lie in pics of ugly things like warehouses with broken windows... According to Greg, I need to take pics of stuff other people want if I ever want to be a good photographer.. which personally I think is a crock of shit :P But who am I to argue with an artiste... So... all suggestions welcome.. unless they're stupid... NO I will not take a pic of your butt or penis... NO I will not take a pic of dog crap... etc...
