Moon's room - Moon's dream: Moon, Danni, (Salene, Mouse)

Aug 23, 2004 18:02

Moon was still sleeping from earlier. Initially she slept quietly and blankly, her body taking the opportunity to recharge itself. Then, she started to dream, clearly and vividly, tossing and turning in her sleep as she did so.

"I'm glad." Danni said, warmly smiling. Looking down at where Moon was gently stroking her with her thumb, Danni thought how insane it was that at one moment she could feel totally at peace yet have shivers running down her spine at the same time, simply from Moon touching her. She'd never felt like this before, her emotions had never been so conflicted with Bray. With him there was a sense of safety and security, reliability, which was what she thought she had wanted. But now she had experienced this new feeling, with Moon of all people, she knew there was no turning back. She would have to follow this path and see where ever it would lead her and hopefully Moon would be by her side all the way.

Looking up into Moon's eyes, Danni knew that they were doing the right thing. To have not acknowledged their feelings for each other would be lying to themselves. Now feeling more secure, Danni leant forward and gently kissed Moon. She was amazed at the way each time she kissed her it felt amazing, almost as if it was the first time every time. She genuinely hoped that there would be more kisses like this, and more time spent together.

Moon lost herself in the tender kiss, nothing could have humanly stopped her. There was no way she could leave this, ever. Her breath was taken away at how sweet Danni's kiss was, making her crave more and more. For a long moment she had no concept of where she was, all she could concentrate on was these wonderful sensations.

Running a hand through Danni's hair, Moon kissed and kissed again, almost alarmed at the way her body was responding. Suddenly Moon heard someone walking past her room - she pulled away from Danni in reflex, wide eyes fixing upon the curtain that served as her door. People hardly ever came to Moon's room, and if they did they knocked or called, but Moon just couldn't help her reaction, her paranoia that this would be the one time when someone walked straight in.

No-one did, however, and the footsteps faded away. Moon let out the breath she had been holding in, and looked back to Danni with a guilty expression.
"Sorry."

Danni's heart couldn't help but sink as Moon pulled away. Danni could hear the footsteps and assumed that that must be the reason why. She thought back to earlier when Moon had said that they mustn't tell anyone and figured that even though Moon was more comfortable around Danni, it would be a long while until she would be comfortable with this around all the Mall Rats. Danni could partially understand this, though couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. She knew that everything would be fine, but still, the paranoid side of her brain took it as a sign that maybe Moon wasn't that interested in being with Danni. After all, if she really cared, she wouldn't care who knew, would she?

Danni hated these doubts that she was having, but she couldn't help herself. In some ways she felt herself to be in a more vulnerable position that Moon, as Danni felt it was herself who had started all this. If anyone were to be looked badly upon, surely it would be Danni. However, she thought that as long as she could be with Moon, she wouldn't care what people would say, but now she didn't even know if she'd have that.

"It's alright...." Danni said, trying to hide her disappointment and uncertainty. "I mean, we're just getting used to this, and it's shocked me so I can't imagine how shocked the Mall Rats would be. Except Lex, I'm sure he'd love to hear about this." Danni half joked, then realised that now was not the time for jokes. She looked down, unsure of what to say next. She knew what she wanted to say, but she didn't know if she should.

"Are you ashamed of me?" Of this?"

Though Danni might try to brush it off with a joke, Moon could tell that she was hurt, and it made Moon feel even more guilty.

"No, no of course not," said Moon quickly, desperate to reassure Danni. Because it was true - she was not ashamed of Danni, she was ashamed of herself. It angered her, because even though she had made this conscious decision to go for it, to see where this road with Danni would take her, she couldn't shake this feeling that she was doing something she shouldn't be.

Moon reached up and cupped Danni's cheek with her hand.
"Danni, I'm sorry," she said softly, "Please don't think that. I can't describe how powerful this is, I don't even understand it myself." Her eyes searched Danni's face, as she continued plaintively, "You said earlier about giving me time... this is how I need that time. With you, not away from you. I just need to get used to it, you know?"

Deciding against telling Danni about her other misgivings - how could she tell her? - Moon drew Danni into a tight hug. She closed her eyes as she drew in the scent of Danni's hair, wanting so badly to be close to her, and hating herself for being unable to let go. Whose values were they, anyway?
