With the seemingly bizarre exception of the absence of that strange, sort of musky odor often said to accompany chocobos, it smelled like a stable. The near-blended scent of hay, manure, and freshly turned earth was unmistakable to the nose of the dark-haired woman who had spent the last fifteen to twenty minutes sparing the stable's exterior haphazard glances whilst slowly, but surely inching towards it. Now her back was pressed to the large, open sliding door of the stable and her heart was thundering in her ears because the memory of that terrible, ominous clip-clop, clip-clop had resurfaced.

Valeria swallowed the pending lump in her throat and wrung her gloved hands yet again. She inhaled deeply; she exhaled deeply. She calmed her breathing because she had to and-and there was no ominous clip-clop. There was a rather strange, unfamiliar scent in the air, but no clip-clop or big, four-legged things that made that might make that kind of sound, so she touched the large door with one hand, took a breath, and leaned carefully to one side to peer around it and into the building.

“Ah...?”

“Baaaaaaaa,” was the reply she received from the peculiar, blue, goat-like wonder in the nearest stall. It certainly didn't look like any goat she had seen before, but she knew the sound. She might have stepped in to pet it had she not sensed big, beady eyes on her and pulled back, pressing her back flat against the door again. Not that she couldn't be the big brave Turk she knew she was, but those things, those horses... there was absolutely, positively no way she was going in there without Link.

So she stood and she waited... and she waited some more, glancing warily, nervously at the stable behind her each time she heard a distinctly unfamiliar noise. Something like a “neiiiiiigh”.
