Dobryn can think of few places he'd rather not be than this-or, well, at least few places he'd rather not be wasting his time in-but it seems that every way out he can find has been completely barred. Perhaps it wouldn't take much effort for him to fix that, whether by a shot from the pistol concealed under his cloak or a projection from his umbra, but with the number of people around... No, that wouldn't do. It's bad enough that he has no idea where he is or how he had gotten here, and he certainly doesn't need to make those circumstances any worse.
What else is there for him to do?
You should enjoy yourself! It's not every day you get to see a zoo like this, you know.
Fine. He isn't sure if he can legitimately enjoy anything here, but he can at least while away his time looking through the exhibits until an opportunity for escape presents itself.]
[Unfortunately for Dobryn, Mikael isn't one of those opportunities.
He's a skittish kid, looking completely confused as to where he is, or even how the hell he got here in the first place. Add that his entire self looks partially terrified, and you've got one recipe for a fraidy cat.
He'll just be... walking along now. And bumping into Dobryn as he tries to find where he is and not panic at the same time.]
Ah- [He catches his balance, gripping the boy by the shoulders as he does so, and gives him a warm smile as he speaks with an easy tone.] Easy, there. You may want to watch where you're going.
[Mikael nearly squeaks in surprise, jumping a little when he hears the voice talking to him. Of course, he tries to calm down, and... that is a lot easier said than done.]
R-Right. Sorry. I'm... not supposed to be here.
[A pause as he sighs and slumps a little, easing back out of being so terrified. And he whirls a little, keeping an eye on everything around him.]
Your home isn't here, then? [He had expected this possibility, and the confirmation of it relieves him; if he's not the only one trapped here, then there must be no reason for his entrapment in particular. Of course, that still leads him to wonder why...
Perhaps this boy can help.] It seems you're not alone... I'm not entirely sure how I got here, either.
[The look on his face is one that basically says 'oh wow this might be a good thing now I might be able to get out.' But other than that he doesn't have much to say.]
Mm, I see... [But that doesn't give him much to go on. Something tells him this kid isn't Harstidian; there's a possibility he might not even be from Tierrhagan.]
Does your home have a name? A city, a country, or something else?
A country called Harstide, on the planet known as Tierrhagan. [He won't go into specifics; he can already tell there'd be no point.]
I wonder if there are others here who have been similarly displaced from their homes... [Which he knows there must be, since what point would there be in simply abducting himself and this boy? But it might still be useful to hear his thoughts on the matter.]
...okay, I've never heard of that place. But maybe Vaylora has. If I can find her.
[Oops, sorry, he's suddenly distracted by the fact that he's nowhere near his pal Vaylora, who happens to be the one who gets him out of trouble. Craaaaaap. Crap crap crap this place sucks! )X]

This isn't a book, right?

If it is, that would be news to me. [Dobryn releases the boy's shoulders and steps back a bit, still smiling.] Where are you supposed to be?

I guess so. Doesn't hurt to ask.
[And at that, Mikael thinks.]
Uh, well... I don't know. I mean, home. But I'm not sure what home is like right now. A lot of weird stuff's going on.

[Not that they actually... y'know, exist right now in his time. he might have something to do with that. :x]

How concerning... I don't believe I've ever heard of such a place.

So then where are you from?

[And she drags him everywhere so the enemy doesn't find him and kill him. Yup.]
