For my last journal entry of the semester I will be giving my overall opinion of this class. Do not worry Dr. Angel-Cann it’s not too harsh. Coming in to the class it would be an understatement to say I dislike English classes, this class did not make me dislike it more, but it certainly did not help. I never read books for enjoyment, I just do not find reading enjoyable at all, and I have struggled with writing papers my whole life. I would rather study every night for a week and take a test than write a research paper, that’s just how school has always gone for me. Unfortunately, all I did in this class was read a book and watch papers. I did not mind the Stranger Than Fiction assignment, and I thought I enjoyed the short story one and wrote a good paper about it….I was wrong. However, I never got in to the poetry assignment because of my lack of interest in poetry, and I lost enough sleep over the research paper that I wont have many fond memories about it to look back on. Overall there were things I enjoyed about the class and some that I just flat struggled with and I look forward to moving on from it once these next two weeks pass. I think the number one most difficult part of the class for me is that I may have underestimated it. I don’t know if it was just because of my teacher last year but I got an A in the first level of English with very minimal effort, this semester could not have been more different.
