My random post of the month...
For anyone with little children, you really must check out
Sid the Science Kid, a (relatively) new show on PBS. It's a totally awesome show about a preschooler (and his friends) who totally love asking questions and "investigating" why the world is the way it is. Also, his preschool teacher rocks.
On that note: if anyone could tell me where the preschool is that inspired this show(assuming, of course, there is a real preschool like that), I want to know!! I realize that I likely could NEVER afford such an awesome teacher/preschool, but, dude, I totally want to send my sons there.
Not that his school is horrendous... but. Too many kids. Not enough teachers. Furthermore, I do not truly get the impression that they are there to teach as much as to care and Joshua is, sadly, not getting his learning muscles exercised at all: it is ALL stuff he has long before mastered. But I will not turn this post into a grumble against the inequalities of society (haves vs have-nots, especially in terms of money), or complaints on how smart children suffer when their parents just cannot afford to send them to a good school.
Instead, I will repeat: you should really check out Sid the Science Kid. It's inspired me, at least, on some creative ways to teach my kids about the world.
